Show us what you have in mind

A photograph, a drawing, a screenshot, a few words. Anything will do. We tell you plainly whether we can make it.

If we can, we ask a rendering fee, then send the rendering with a written quote. Payment is a deposit with the balance on delivery, or in full at the start, depending on the piece and its scale.

Made to order is the daily work of Meridien, our principal supplier, which has furnished hotels since 1990.

    Say what it is for, where it goes and how it should feel. Plain description is enough.

  • Sizes, if you have them

    Width, depth and height, or the space it must fit. Approximate is enough to begin.

How an order runs

Six steps from your first picture to the door. Sending a brief is free; the rendering carries a fee, stated before you pay.

    Send us anything

    A photograph, a drawing, a screenshot, with a few words on what you want. Sizes help but are not required.

  2. 02

    We see if we can

    We check the piece against what our makers can build, and reply in writing whether the answer is yes or no.

  3. 03

    Pay the rendering fee

    If we can, we ask a nominal fee for the design work. Our time is charged, and the amount is stated before you pay.

  4. 04

    See it rendered, with a quote

    You receive the rendering, a price range and a second, more detailed set of questions on size, joinery and finish.

  5. 05

    You pay

    A deposit now and the balance on delivery, or in full at the start. Terms depend on the piece and its scale.

  6. 06

    Made and delivered

    The piece goes to the workshop, and delivery is confirmed per piece. Lead time is confirmed in your quote.

The rendering fee

Sending a brief costs nothing. If we can make the piece, we ask a nominal fee for the rendering, because design time is work. The amount is stated before you pay.

Made by hand, directed by people

Most of our pieces are made by hand, with machines doing the repeatable work: cutting, sanding, pressing. A person directs every stage and checks the result.

We have capacity to produce furniture to order, from a single piece to repeat quantities.

Where each piece is made is confirmed in your quote.

  • By hand

    Shaping, fitting and finishing are done by a maker, not left to a line.

  • With machines

    Cutting, sanding and repeat work run on machines, so the tenth piece matches the first.

  • Under human control

    A person directs each stage and stops the work when it is not right.

Larger quantities lower the price of each

For the same piece in volume, the price of each falls as the quantity rises. Hotels, restaurants and developments feel it most.

  • The same piece, more units

    Order one, or order two hundred. The drawing is the same and so is the standard.

  • Set up once

    Drawings, templates and set-up are done once and shared across every unit in the run.

  • Agreed in writing

    Price bands are set per commission and stated in your quote.

We work with John-Richard, an American studio, and with the factories Meridien works with across four continents. Both are described on Studios and Makers.

The workshop for a commission is named in your quote. New makers join on our own judgement.
